Alden Richards received the Asian Star Prize in the Seoul International Drama Awards 2019 last August 28 at the Grand Peace Hall in Kyung Hee University.
This marks another milestone in Richards’ career as he proves to be unstoppable in expanding the standards of acting and strengthening his craft as an artist.
In his acceptance speech, the Kapuso prime actor expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the award-giving body.
“It is such an honor to receive this award. As a Filipino, I am very humbled and grateful to be recognized in the international scene along with so many amazing and talented artists here tonight,” the Kapuso prime actor said.
“This award is also extra special to me because it comes at a time when we are celebrating 70 years of friendship between the Philippines and Korea. Thank you to the Seoul Drama Awards Committee and the Korean Broadcasters Association,” he added.
Richards also noted that through this award, he recognizes that his dedication to his craft can inspire others, “As actors, it is always our hope to make more people happy and inspire them with our passion.”
The Seoul International Drama Awards is organized by Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee and Korean Broadcasters Association. It is a festival that brings together all professionals in the field of TV drama production and media industry and global audiences who enjoy television dramas.
Richards will once again exhibit his acting ability in the upcoming primetime series The Gift, where he takes on the role of Joseph. This is the story of a man who grows up in Divisoria and becomes one of its hard-working vendors.
Despite the trials that come his way upon losing his eyesight, Joseph continues to be a good person and becomes an inspiration to the people around him.
To prepare for his role, Richards underwent an immersion with Resources for the Blind Inc., a non-government office that helps visually-impaired people.
